Grand Chapter Scholarship
The Grand Chapter of North Carolina presents scholarships
yearly to those students enrolled in a school of higher education
and must be related to a Master Mason or a member of the
Order of the Eastern Star.  The money to fund these scholarships
come from donations from the individual chapter in the state.

As chairperson of the scholarship committee in our Chapter this
year it has been my honor to promote activities for Fayetteville
Chapter to raise money to donate to this worthwhile cause.  I
decided that the abundance of leftover peanuts from our peanut
sale could be used for this purpose so we began making peanut
brittle to sell.  I want to thank two special people who assisted
with this undertaking from the very beginning.  Edith Wade
started out making all the peanut brittle in her home and then
gave it to me to bag and sell.  Ellen Wright has taken the majority
of the brittle to work and sold it there.

Since first starting this project last fall, we have now branched out
and have been making the brittle at the Masonic Center
periodically to make brittle and sugar coated peanuts.  Others I
want to thank for participating are Pam Lindow, Melba Lawson,
Macy Varian, Sara Matherly, Gloria and Al Tanzilo, Alice Smith,
Mike Klack, and Geraldine Alsup (a friend of the Chapter).  Sales
have been great and we're still going strong.  Anyone want a bag
of peanut brittle for $1.00?
