GREETINGS FROM YOUR WORTHY MATRON
|
Members of Fayetteville Chapter,
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year. I know those
of us who have been going to Chapter on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each
month have had a great time.
On January 9, 2009 the Chapter had their annual Spaghetti Dinner which
we made around 1,200 dollars, not bad. We also have an ongoing project
for our Grand Chapter Scholarship, we are making peanut brittle and putting
3 1/2 oz. per bag and selling it at $1.00 per bag, up to now we have turned in
to the Grand Chapter Scholarship Fund around $500.00
I talked to our Worthy Grand Matron and asked if Fayetteville Chapter #334
could sell Peanut Brittle at Grand Chapter this year and turn the proceeds to
the Grand Chapter Scholarship Fund. She said it would be a great idea.
We are planning to make about 1000 - 1,500 bags of Peanut Brittle and take
to the Grand Chapter to sell.
We enjoy having this project. It gets the members of the Chapter together
and we talk and plan future events for our Chapter, if some members from
our District come we can discuss things and maybe help each other come
up with new ideas.
Fayetteville Chapter #334 has been in very good hands this past year, and
I want to thank Sister Pam Smith, our Associate Matron, for filling in for me
as Worthy Matron when I was not able to be at the meetings. I have been
quite busy traveling with our Worthy Grand Patron, going to the Official Visits
throughout our State. Out of the 82 Official Visits I have only missed two, one
I had to be with my sick mother, and the other was when we had the Official
Inspections of our DDGM/DDGP. It was wonderful to be home for the
Holidays, then we hit the road again on January 3 through the end of
February. Things are finally winding down, now our Worthy Grand Patron,
Brother John, has started to get ready for Grand Chapter in June.
Saturday February 25, at Fayetteville Chapter we will be having a Colonial
Degree at 10:00AM, after the presentation the Chapter will be serving lunch
to our guests, we will have two kinds of soup (Vegetable Beef & Potato) we
will also have sandwiches, sound great and so yummy! Than that evening
we will be going to the Official Visit and Homecoming of our Grand Martha,
Sister Vivian Gallagher, at Phoenix Lodge in Fayetteville the meeting will
start at 7:00PM.
The 13th District will have a Boutique Sale on March 7th at the Fayetteville
Masonic Center to raise money for the NC OES Foundation, please make
an effort to attend there will be lots of items for sale.
I want each and every member of Fayetteville Chapter to know that I have
enjoyed my year as Worthy Matron all though I have been gone most of the
time since June 2008 Grand Chapter. I missed the meetings in July through
August because of the Official Visits throughout the State. We attended the
meeting in December and it was wonderful to be home with our Sisters and
Brothers.
I know there is one person I have to thank and that is our Associate Matron,
Sister Pam Smith, she has gone above and beyond her station this year and
I know our Chapter is in great hands for the coming year.
My Sisters and Brothers, may God keep you safe in the palm of His hand.
It's great to be back home in Fayetteville Chapter - our home Chapter. We
love you one an all.
- Farewell as your WM,
Linda Masson
